First straight line about 30 yards.  Food drops every other step for first half.  SP5, SP10, repeat for second half.  Liver, hamburger, cheese. A little distracted again, but finally got to work.  Will keep working on article ID. https://youtube.com/shorts/_5l1efnEeIg 2nd straight line about 100 yards.   Food drops every other step for first half.  SP5, SP10, repeat for second half.  Liver, hamburger, cheese I thought he NAILED the 2nd track!  Got straight to work. . .kept on moving!  I was very happy!   Will keep working on article ID. 2nd track video

12/15/24 Food Lion. 2 straight line tracks

Sunday Dec. 15.  Food Lion grassy lot Spend some time figuring out this old "Go Pro" Straight Line.  30 yards.  SP5, SP 10, repeat.  Hamburger.  In at 12:19.  Run at 12:30.  Cold.  40, cloudy, windy. Found Barrett's old harness. . .which seems to fit!  And has a nice handle and no "FLAP".  This will be Buster's new harness!   Need to make sure I am CENTERED on the center of his harness. Video#1 Track #2       Straight Line.  50 yards.  SP5, SP 10, SP 15,  repeat.  Hamburger.  In at 12:23.  Run at 12:38.  Cold.  40, cloudy, windy.  Very distracted by cars in parking lot, truck Video #2

Class 12/14/24 Cool water

Track #1 == 30 yards. straight line  Salmon every step for first half.  SP for 2nd half.  He seemed to like SP better.   He stopped for a LOt more food than he usually does.  I thought he was very distracted. . .wanted to look around. . .see what was going on.  Also, when I stop him (from going OFF track) he seems to lift his head and want to look around.    Also, he does not like this (substitute) harness.  I lost his black harness last weekend.  So sad.  This substitute harness has a big "flap" past the live 0-ring and not much of a "handle" that I can use to hold him when clipping.  He keeps looking back at the harness on his back.  He does not like things on his back. I thought I was very patient with him.  Keeping a short line. . .which CAN be even shorter.  Right up to his butt!  I kept my voice at a minimum.   Youtube link track #1 Track#2 --Article track.  50 yards straight ...

Hurkamp Park 12/8

Nice new place with lots going on--including half marathon which we watched part of.   In flat field by river, did Straight line. About 40 yards. Liver at every step short grass. Cool about 50°. Sunny.  Calm. Laid at 8:17 AM and ran at 8:21 AM. He was very distracted. Looked around at everything. Was very sensitive to sounds. Only took about three of the liver drops. I think he is bored.  And food is not a super motivator for Buster. I put a second straight line track(more challenging) in at 8:34 using scent pads with liver SP5, SP 10 SP 20 and repeated that pattern. Ran at 8:44. He did so much better! Straight line, only took a few food drops, but seemed to enjoy the track.  Kept on moving!   No articles. Just flags. Then I lost my harness. I think I left it in the parking lot. Still have some messages on Facebook, but I’m not sure I’ll get it back. Makes me very sad because I’ve had that harness for many years trained several bloodhounds with it.

Glove games with videos

Glove game #1 Glove game #2 Glove game #3 indoors Video #1 --outside in yard. . .on lead.  I should have paid him for that first (half-ass) down!   He bucked a little after that . . .and I was waiting for a perfect down.   Video#2   outisde in yard, on lead.  Again I should pay him for these half-ass down's!  He is improving.  If I did NOT have him on lead, he would grab the glove and run off with it! Video#3 Hid potholder article in bedroom past the bathroom.  He is so afraid of the bathroom (he remembers getting a bath in there as a pup).  This video was the 3rd video. . .he really did NOT want to go by the bathroom, so after 2 "refusals" I gave him some sweet talk and helped him a little.  Finally successful and runs with his treasure into living room.   Question:  is picking up the article and prancing away ok?  Just beginning training as this point.    Is he going to do this on the...

2 straight lines, turkey on Sunday, Liver on MOnday

Sunday 12/1/24 straight line track w/ fresh turkey every step.  start and end flag, NO article.   Breezy and cold.  38 degrees?  At grassy lot in front of Food Lion. Ran hot at 2:50 p.m..  He takes a minute at the beginning to take on surroundings (even after I walked him around a little first).  Then he put his head down and tracked.  Took only 1 or 2 food drops. Monday 12/2/24 straight line track with fresh cooked beef LIVER. At back of Rockland Creek. 5 p.m. Cold and calm.  Start and end flag, NO article.  Liver on EVERY step. Ran hot.  OMG, he liked it!   He stopped at over half of the food drops and tracked well!  Yay!  Also, I tried him on a regular choke instead of prong.  This could makle a difference? He still does NOT like to GO in the van.  Has to be coaxed to get in. Question:  This liver is pretty stinky and gooey.  Is it ok for me to wear a rubber glove to keep my hands fro...
