 Sunday Dec. 15.  Food Lion grassy lot

Spend some time figuring out this old "Go Pro"

Straight Line.  30 yards.  SP5, SP 10, repeat.  Hamburger.  In at 12:19.  Run at 12:30.  Cold.  40, cloudy, windy.

Found Barrett's old harness. . .which seems to fit!  And has a nice handle and no "FLAP".  This will be Buster's new harness!   Need to make sure I am CENTERED on the center of his harness.

    thanks for posting the videos. i could only view the first one, the second said something about privacy. it is fascinating for me to see his 'flew' puff out and in as he is air scenting while looking around.
    one of the reasons we want you to work article indication AWAY from an actual track is that when you have to double or triple comand the down/use a threatening voice/restrain at the flag and make it a generally 'negative' experience, the dog feels stress. I personally would not be using an article on his tracks. i would continue to work the article games AND i would do a scent pad at the start flag and load it again as he comes to it and then continue with scent pads every five steps. I will look for a video of Jack because goodness knows we are the poster child for scent pads!! i will let you know when and where i post it.

 Man, this impressed ME!  He was so ON it!  Sorry the videos are a bit shaky. . .We were moving!  He was pulling nice through tall, clumpy grass.  I really had to be careful of my footing. He ate very little food along the way, even at the start.  Somewhere along the way I tried to adjust the camera view and accidently stopped and restarted it.    So there are 2 videos. He PICKED up the article at the end!  I used a glove and stuffed his toy into the glove with treats and secured it closed w/ rubberband.  No self-rewarding!      Question:  When do I start using a START article?  And HOW?  Do I ask him to pick it up or DOWN on it?  Or just sniff it and go?    Part I           Part II

Buster Snow Day. 1/7/25 TWO in a ROW!! + article practice 1/8/25

 Another straight line in the snow with Scent Pads. 90 paces total.  NO articles.   He was excited to go out!  Two weeks ago, he was running the other direction when he saw me put on my tracking books!  Now he is whining to go!  Progress! He did another GREAT track today!  I was so happy and so was Buster!  Put my gloves on this time.  Gave him some love at the start. . .he wants to hug me.  Excitement?  Frustration?  Anticipation?  Nervous?  I am learning to deal with his personality more and more.   He pulled well, but not like a bull moose from yesterday.  Much more maneagable and steady.  Ate/stopped  at almost every Scent Pad! Had a short moment of checking out something, but came right back to track.  Enjoyed his BALL at the end! Buster Snow Day.
