Buster Coolwater class 11/29/25 Car passing

Forgot to get map from Jen.  Was a basic U shape, long legs with short leg turn.2 turns total.  Aged 45 minutes.  No start article, just toy at end.  Good start, but then got very distracted by CAR going by.  Wanted to chase.  I held him.  I think he was pissed, but decided to track like a bull moose!  Good first left turn, but then when got close to road where car passed, wanted to go right.  I held, moved back, & watered.

Finally he turned in correct direction. Stopped and wagged tail at article.  I coached down and he did a half-ass down.  I rewarded it!   Then you hear MAM coaching me with more article ID. 

We are continuing to work article ID in yard and OUTDOORS.  Also need to sharped DOWN (proof?) in all environments.

    Overall sounds like a good session! Sounds like he channeled his 'can't chase' frustration into tracking :)! Love to hear you did something to support him and narrow options for the area where he got distracted and wanted to pull right. I'll be sending good vibes for the weekend!

 Man, this impressed ME!  He was so ON it!  Sorry the videos are a bit shaky. . .We were moving!  He was pulling nice through tall, clumpy grass.  I really had to be careful of my footing. He ate very little food along the way, even at the start.  Somewhere along the way I tried to adjust the camera view and accidently stopped and restarted it.    So there are 2 videos. He PICKED up the article at the end!  I used a glove and stuffed his toy into the glove with treats and secured it closed w/ rubberband.  No self-rewarding!      Question:  When do I start using a START article?  And HOW?  Do I ask him to pick it up or DOWN on it?  Or just sniff it and go?    Part I           Part II

Buster Snow Day. 1/7/25 TWO in a ROW!! + article practice 1/8/25

 Another straight line in the snow with Scent Pads. 90 paces total.  NO articles.   He was excited to go out!  Two weeks ago, he was running the other direction when he saw me put on my tracking books!  Now he is whining to go!  Progress! He did another GREAT track today!  I was so happy and so was Buster!  Put my gloves on this time.  Gave him some love at the start. . .he wants to hug me.  Excitement?  Frustration?  Anticipation?  Nervous?  I am learning to deal with his personality more and more.   He pulled well, but not like a bull moose from yesterday.  Much more maneagable and steady.  Ate/stopped  at almost every Scent Pad! Had a short moment of checking out something, but came right back to track.  Enjoyed his BALL at the end! Buster Snow Day.
