Man, this impressed ME! He was so ON it! Sorry the videos are a bit shaky. . .We were moving! He was pulling nice through tall, clumpy grass. I really had to be careful of my footing. He ate very little food along the way, even at the start. Somewhere along the way I tried to adjust the camera view and accidently stopped and restarted it. So there are 2 videos. He PICKED up the article at the end! I used a glove and stuffed his toy into the glove with treats and secured it closed w/ rubberband. No self-rewarding! Question: When do I start using a START article? And HOW? Do I ask him to pick it up or DOWN on it? Or just sniff it and go? Part I Part II
love the love fest, love that he is nose down, love that when he is not you are able to either wait him out or tell him to find it, love love love his reaction to finding the squeaky toy, love your line tension, LOVE that he is eating food drops. tell him to FIND IT when you clip the line on, in fact you might put a little more tension on the line (opposition reflex) and see if that will rev him up a bit. and for sure use an end article that is a fuzzy toy. start using a fuzzy toy at the end of every track. not quite ready for the start, but for sure he loved that fox on track 1.
ReplyDeleteOMG. He’s tracking! And he PICKED THE ARTICLE UP!!! And was proud of himself for doing so! A month ago, when he felt a need to look around, he couldn’t go back to work. Now he looks around, a goes right back to work!!! I LOVE your snuggle time before the track—and even more, I love that when the snuggles end…he starts to track! So clearly this is working for him! I agree with MAM on making use of the opposition reflex. He’s doing so well!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's just funny how the "snuggle" started! It really seems to calm his anxieties and give him confidence!!! Will keep the fuzzy toy at end of track!
