Saturday I keep forgetting to write down WIND and relative humidity.  I'm going to change up SP pattern.  Will keep start SP and W5 SP.  Then maybe 15 SP, 30SP and repeat.  Changing it up and stretching it out. Class video 1 turn, 1 article LEAP FROG game!  This was so much FUN! Buster LEAP FROG video

Sunday 1/19 2 straight lines SMS

Image
Two  ONE-turn tracks.  SMS.  Snow covered still. Unfortunately I video-taped my face on the first track!  DOH!!!   Forgot to turn the phone on selfie mode.  He did well.  Ate most of the treats and had no problem with the turn.  Second track was similar.  He actually went FASTER and seemed to pull harder, maybe because I ran out of treats?    2nd of 2 tracks I was able to throw treats down at the end.  What to do next?  More article games outside!   I am continuing article games at home.   Glove game in house      Buster Find it in the house

Buster Snow#4 Carmel School 1/12/25

Straight line with same pattern. SP, w5P, w10SP, w25SP.  Repeated 3 times.  Nice long leg 160 total.  No Articles.  He is really getting it! I forgot to RELOAD the start!  Lifted his head a few times. . .I was about to STOP then he put his head right back down. Stopped for most of scent pads.   Didn't want to play ball so much at end.    I see myself guiding a little. . .when he steps off to one side, I should be going with him, not staying on the track?  That head pop up is a good indicator of loss of scent. Buster Snow Day 3 in a Row! 1/9/25

Another GREAT track in the snow.  Spotsy HS.  Straight line.  NO articles.  Scent Pads 5,10, 25, 5, 10, 25. REpeat 3 times for total of 120 yards.  He liked the liver and hamburger mix.  I'm learning his start is super important.  He seems excited or nervous and wants to stand up on me.  I let him because I think it calms him down and gives him comfort and confidence.  You can see I spent some time petting him before start command. . .I saw him watching and concerned about cars going by.  I think he is GETTING it!   I just hope it doesn't change when the snow goes away!! We've been playing glove games in the house and garage.  Going well. Snow Day 3 in a row 1/9/25 video

Buster Snow Day. 1/7/25 TWO in a ROW!! + article practice 1/8/25

Image
Another straight line in the snow with Scent Pads. 90 paces total.  NO articles.   He was excited to go out!  Two weeks ago, he was running the other direction when he saw me put on my tracking books!  Now he is whining to go!  Progress! He did another GREAT track today!  I was so happy and so was Buster!  Put my gloves on this time.  Gave him some love at the start. . .he wants to hug me.  Excitement?  Frustration?  Anticipation?  Nervous?  I am learning to deal with his personality more and more.   He pulled well, but not like a bull moose from yesterday.  Much more maneagable and steady.  Ate/stopped  at almost every Scent Pad! Had a short moment of checking out something, but came right back to track.  Enjoyed his BALL at the end! Buster Snow Day. Buster Snow Day Pay Day! 1/6/25

Track in the SNOW!  Straight Line in front yard.   Start w/ SP .  W5 SP, W10 SP repeat 3 times. One stretch out of 25 paces.  NO Articles.  Flag at start & End.  Layed at 3:19 p.m. Run at 3:35. OMG, I could hardly hold on!  He pulled like a bull moose! (You will hear my heavy breathing!!)He hasn't pulled like that in months!  The start was a little shaky. . .but then he was like a freight train!  He stopped for SOME of the Scent Pads.  I forgot to bring extra treats with me. . .so I did not re-load the start.  He was crittering from a dog next door and I had a hard time holding on today!   He was so excited and happy!  Motivated!  This was PAY DAY for me!  All those frustrating tracks. . .he tracked so well today!  And I carried his giant BALL with me. . .he played with that at the end.  He was so happy!  It felt so good! Article Track 1/1/25 @ Bryan's

Image
Bryan did his best to lay the track as instructed.  He put clips or flags on all the Scent Pads.   1 track straight line track with articles.  SP  w5SP, W10 SP, W25 ARTICLE. Home made meatballs and freshed cooked liver with garlic. Every time Buster was looking to the right, he was looking at the other bloodhounds in yard(which he got to play with later).  He always needs time to "soak in" his environment.  He is somewhat shy. This is very frustrating to me!  I want to say . . ."It's OK, just get back to work!"  Link to video Gotta have some fun!  The yard was a little scarry at first for Buster. . .but then he warmed up and played nicely with others!    The pup is his 1/2 brother. 5 1/2 months old.

Oops, I dropped something, 4 Scent pad starts 12/30/24

Got new chestmound for my iphone.  So much easier than GoPro w/ disc, converter, etc..  Still takes some practice!  Driveway:  Oops I dropped something.  OMG, will he ever do a good down (outside the living room)??!! Oops I dropped something Scent Pad Starts:  SHS Track #1 and Track #4 I ended up video taping my own chest. . .forgot to reverse the camera for "selfie" mode. Start Scent pads #2 Scent Pad start #3 Buster is not very interested in food.  I ended up re-walking his tracks and picking up all the "yummy" nuggets!!  Recycle!
