Buster Carmel School 12/21/ 24 2 straight lines

First straight line about 30 yards.  Food drops every other step for first half.  SP5, SP10, repeat for second half.  Liver, hamburger, cheese.

A little distracted again, but finally got to work.  Will keep working on article ID.

  1. he was certainly more enthusiastic about these tracks. i do think you need a vest that has your yummy food free in one of the easy to access pockets. keeping it in the zip lock bag really kills your timing on delivery. i do hope that after the email and videos i sent that you will revisit the way you use scent pads. i really believe that top loading a start scent pad (that already has at least 6 pieces of food on it) while he watches you will help. that will help you get a start routine more defined as well. clip that line to the harness 3 feet away, tell him to wait, top load the start scent pad.
his article indication will improve if you have your food ready, in your hand, so when he bows the front down you can throw treats between his front legs. i understand your wanting to reward the effort. so throw the treats between his front legs and wait for him to finish that food. perhaps he will give you a full down in the future and i would surely throw a jackpot between his front legs with a big YES marker. and i would double lay his tracks as well.

    1. I will do that, MaryAnn. Need to get those treats easily accessible. Double lay his tracks? This is not reduntant?

  2. Everything MAM said. Also, while we don’t want you to become an anchor, the faster he goes, the faster you go…and then his head comes up and you keep going. Let’s let him throw some of that energy into the harness and let him take you. Personally, I’d remove the articles from the track until you have a solid indication off the track. We saw some nice enthusiasm for the track, and then we nag him/apply pressure etc at the end. Not sure that’s how I want the tracks to end at this point. When an article appears, I’d like you to be able to give one verbal ‘hint’ and have him say ‘oh yeah, I know what what to do!’
