Wood, wind, problems
Layed the track Friday at 4:45 pm so I could run it Saturday am. Windy, cold-front moving in overnight. 38 degrees. Start on grass, then turn into woods and rest in woods. First problems: pen ran out. Forgot phone. So couldn't write anything, but left markers--clips & flags.
Ran track at 8:45 next morning. Sunny, cold. I turned on Mantrailing App to follow track. Fine start and turn into woods. Did pretty well with articles. But then started pulling left at one point. I thought that was wrong. . .but looking back at map, looks like I crossed over my own track! NOOOO! Can't believe I did that. ****WAIT, it wasn't that bad! The signal in the woods was bad, so I did NOT cross over myself!!!) So hard to walk straight line in woods. . .esp. with LOTS of fallen trees. Tricks did well with WAIT command & large fallen-down trees. Good with articles except 1. Last article (eye-glass case) was SUPPOSED to be at end near exit from woods. Tricks did look around for it. It was MISSING! I threw down another article for him to finish. We(Bob and I) looked and looked, but could not find last article! It was gone.
Take aways: Make sure your PEN works! Use more clips in woods. Keep phone in pocket. Tricks is stopping for more food drops--which gives me more confidence in knowing that he is ON track.
