Class 12/3 Rain / woods/articles

 Did "straight" line in woods.  9 articles.  Rain.  53 degrees.  Ran at 2 hours.  Did ok.  I need to use MORE markers!   Got a little lost, but Tricks got it right!  Did S10, W15 w/ food at 8/9 after every article.  Article every 30 yards.  Needed some help across the paths --many cross tracks.  Rain didn't bother Tricks at all.  Was hard to hold wet line.  He did some waiting while I navigated branches/ trees/ etc..  Stopped at 8/9 articles.  Will not down still. . .after talking to Judi. . .I will not require him to down because of his age.  If he will take it in mouth, or just stand / pause / maybe look back at me?  I'll take it.  

Work on waiting 3- 5 seconds before rewarding for glove find.

 Man, this impressed ME!  He was so ON it!  Sorry the videos are a bit shaky. . .We were moving!  He was pulling nice through tall, clumpy grass.  I really had to be careful of my footing. He ate very little food along the way, even at the start.  Somewhere along the way I tried to adjust the camera view and accidently stopped and restarted it.    So there are 2 videos. He PICKED up the article at the end!  I used a glove and stuffed his toy into the glove with treats and secured it closed w/ rubberband.  No self-rewarding!      Question:  When do I start using a START article?  And HOW?  Do I ask him to pick it up or DOWN on it?  Or just sniff it and go?    Part I           Part II

Buster Snow Day. 1/7/25 TWO in a ROW!! + article practice 1/8/25

 Another straight line in the snow with Scent Pads. 90 paces total.  NO articles.   He was excited to go out!  Two weeks ago, he was running the other direction when he saw me put on my tracking books!  Now he is whining to go!  Progress! He did another GREAT track today!  I was so happy and so was Buster!  Put my gloves on this time.  Gave him some love at the start. . .he wants to hug me.  Excitement?  Frustration?  Anticipation?  Nervous?  I am learning to deal with his personality more and more.   He pulled well, but not like a bull moose from yesterday.  Much more maneagable and steady.  Ate/stopped  at almost every Scent Pad! Had a short moment of checking out something, but came right back to track.  Enjoyed his BALL at the end! Buster Snow Day.
