10/30/22 Short track

 Bob put in a short (130 yards?) track in our yard. 60 degrees. Shady.    Crossed 2 drive ways.  Ran at 1hour 15 minutes .  4:15 in the afternoon.  Scuff 10, Walk 15 w/ food at 8 & 9.  Tricks stopped for some food.  Kept his head down, but wanted to cut one turn off.  (I did not let him)  He stopped at 3 articles.  Put the plastic food can lid in his MOUTh (he likes plastic stuff) but will still NOT down at articles.   Time does NOT seem to be an issue for Tricks.  https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1Q-i0Dc7HlPU2FiTt41oghHq9Ox0Xpx86Would like to work on those downs at articles.

    Picking articles up is a reasonable alternative to lying down. If that’s easier…go for it!

 Man, this impressed ME!  He was so ON it!  Sorry the videos are a bit shaky. . .We were moving!  He was pulling nice through tall, clumpy grass.  I really had to be careful of my footing. He ate very little food along the way, even at the start.  Somewhere along the way I tried to adjust the camera view and accidently stopped and restarted it.    So there are 2 videos. He PICKED up the article at the end!  I used a glove and stuffed his toy into the glove with treats and secured it closed w/ rubberband.  No self-rewarding!      Question:  When do I start using a START article?  And HOW?  Do I ask him to pick it up or DOWN on it?  Or just sniff it and go?    Part I           Part II

Buster 2 1-turn tracks 6/15/25

Buster Snow Day. 1/7/25 TWO in a ROW!! + article practice 1/8/25

 Another straight line in the snow with Scent Pads. 90 paces total.  NO articles.   He was excited to go out!  Two weeks ago, he was running the other direction when he saw me put on my tracking books!  Now he is whining to go!  Progress! He did another GREAT track today!  I was so happy and so was Buster!  Put my gloves on this time.  Gave him some love at the start. . .he wants to hug me.  Excitement?  Frustration?  Anticipation?  Nervous?  I am learning to deal with his personality more and more.   He pulled well, but not like a bull moose from yesterday.  Much more maneagable and steady.  Ate/stopped  at almost every Scent Pad! Had a short moment of checking out something, but came right back to track.  Enjoyed his BALL at the end! Buster Snow Day.
